facebook fun

Dad had a funny thing happen today. When I got home from youth group, he told me about it. Then he said, "I'm going to post this as my facebook status!"

Observe:
Used Victoria is hmmm?? What is the word? I had someone call tonight wanting to purchase one of the six man hole covers (don't ask) that I have for sale. He was trying to figure out if it would fit his particular hole. So I said "give me your number, and I will go out and measure the exact dimensions and get back to you." To this he responded "I am calling long distance... from Italy!?!"
*A minute or two later*
Dad: Hey! I have three notifications!
*Checks them*
Dad: Whoa, three people commented on my status already...they all think it's hilarious...I'm going to get tons of comments!
Me: This is what happens sometimes when you actually *do* something on your facebook, dad.
 Dad: Huh...this is fun!

Aaron: Emma, guess what? There's a kind of haggis that costs $10,000 a serving! They use all the best kinds of meat and cook it in 500-year-old scotch.

Me: There's scotch that's 500 years old?

Aaron: Yup.

(Pause)

Me: And they use it to make haggis?

Books we have read to death.

There are many books in our home that are well loved. I thought today I would showcase a few that are in the worst repair. Strangely enough, these books happen to be a few of our favourites. 'Things People Do' should also be included in this collection, but I couldn't get it from Ethan long enough to take a picture.

I think we've owned this copy since 2002...and it has been well loved since then. The pages are dog-eared, crumpled and chocolate stained.

Favourite page? Not sure...

This book is actually hilarious, we bought it at the desert museum in Tuscon, Arizona. It's about javelinas, who look like pigs, but get really ticked off if you call them that.

I pretty much love every childrens' book in here. This is what the book is supposed to look like....

...and this is our original copy. It has been repaired, re-covered and taped up many, many times.

Another treasury. This one has a bunch of grease stains, apparently from reading while eating.

Quotes of the day:

Ethan (putting Aaron's toque over his head): Ew, it's stinky in there.

Ethan: ...and then Baby Will was like "what the?"

Dad (to Ethan): I'm going to eat you up, Ethan!!
Ethan: NOOO!!!! You can't eat me up!!!
Dad: Well, can I have a little taste?
Ethan: Well....(grins evilly). You can have a little taste of my bum.

Sophia saves the day

Sophia was down in the field with her horse when these two teenage girls were walking down our road and smashing the pumpkins we left on the sides of the road. Sophia hid in the bushes and said in her scariest voice
"DON'T RUIN THE PUMPKINS!!!"
And then she shouted it repeatedly until the girls ran away.

I have a little problem...

I get these ideas in my head like "I want to paint a mural of vines and flowers on my ceiling"

or "I want to sew a dress that I can wear for running outside and feeling like a Narnian princess"

or "I should blog everyday for a year"

or "Let's see if I can read 80 books in a month"

Usually, they don't happen. But if I really get latched onto a project, it happens.

If it has something to do with sewing, it usually goes like this:
"That dress is the most beautiful one I've ever seen. I'm sewing one."

It happened again. I found the most beautiful dress ever. I'm sewing one.
Stay tuned for updates.
