Aaron: Emma, guess what? There's a kind of haggis that costs $10,000 a serving! They use all the best kinds of meat and cook it in 500-year-old scotch.

Me: There's scotch that's 500 years old?

Aaron: Yup.

(Pause)

Me: And they use it to make haggis?

Books we have read to death.

There are many books in our home that are well loved. I thought today I would showcase a few that are in the worst repair. Strangely enough, these books happen to be a few of our favourites. 'Things People Do' should also be included in this collection, but I couldn't get it from Ethan long enough to take a picture.

I think we've owned this copy since 2002...and it has been well loved since then. The pages are dog-eared, crumpled and chocolate stained.

Favourite page? Not sure...

This book is actually hilarious, we bought it at the desert museum in Tuscon, Arizona. It's about javelinas, who look like pigs, but get really ticked off if you call them that.

I pretty much love every childrens' book in here. This is what the book is supposed to look like....

...and this is our original copy. It has been repaired, re-covered and taped up many, many times.

Another treasury. This one has a bunch of grease stains, apparently from reading while eating.

Quotes of the day:

Ethan (putting Aaron's toque over his head): Ew, it's stinky in there.

Ethan: ...and then Baby Will was like "what the?"

Dad (to Ethan): I'm going to eat you up, Ethan!!
Ethan: NOOO!!!! You can't eat me up!!!
Dad: Well, can I have a little taste?
Ethan: Well....(grins evilly). You can have a little taste of my bum.
